During a June 2026 appearance on the podcast Can’t Be Censored, Tucker Carlson declared, “There’s no chance I would support the Republican Party.”

Now Megyn Kelly says Republicans may be facing their own reckoning over Israel, following Carlson’s announcement that he’s leaving the GOP.

On the Wednesday, June 24 episode of her podcast the Megyn Kelly Show, the journalist noted that disapproval of Israel “has creeped over into the right and the right wing” in addition to the left, before playing a clip of Carlson, 57, revealing his break with the Republican Party on what she called “a podcast I’ve never heard of.”

Kelly, 55, who said she hasn’t been a registered Republican “in 20 plus years,” told guest Chamath Palihapitiya that “Republicans are going to have a really serious decision to make, too, when it comes to positioning on Israel.” She added, “There is a growing wind within the GOP that I think feels the way Tucker does.”

Palihapitiya, 49, the venture capitalist and All-In podcast co-host, agreed the moment felt significant. “I share these same concerns with you,” he said, adding that he has personal ties to Israel and considers the distinction between criticizing the country’s leadership and criticizing Israelis or Jews “a really important distinction that we have to make.”

Kelly also flagged a rift forming among Democrats, referencing chatter that some in the party may resist nominating a Jewish candidate who supports Israel. “I do wonder what it’s going to do to Republican politics going forward,” she said.

As Globe previously reported, Carlson’s break with President Donald Trump didn’t start with this week’s announcement. Speaking with his brother, Buckley Carlson, a former White House speechwriter, on an April episode of his show, Carlson admitted he felt “implicated” in helping elect Trump. “In very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now,” he said, adding, “I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people. It was not intentional.”
